Spring training

We spent the day doing what could easily become an annual event for us - we went to the season opener of the Washington Nationals.

We weren't able to add to our Nationals wardrobe this year - the freebie this time was a limited edition commemorative coin.

The Nationals lost, the peanuts were stale but it was a beautiful hot sunny day - not bad at all.

Deer must like fish!

Olivier cooked up some great tilapia on the BBQ tonight with 3 pairs of eyes watching his every move.

We had a hen party!

Cornish hens are a great BBQ supper around here and we certainly enjoyed our feast!

Sorry folks - there were no leftovers!

Merritt Island Wildlife Refuge

Our loyal Blog readers will remember that one of our favorite places last year was the Merritt Island Wildlife Refuge. Today we saw huge aligators, pink flamingos, bald eagles and a spoonbilled pelican (I think that's what it's called!).

Friendly gator

I think this gator remembers us from last year - he was smiling when we took his picture! Now that it is mating season they are everywhere around here. Time to switch from my sandals to my workboots!

Oops!

So maybe giving Olivier and Peter a beer before the job was done was not such a good idea!

Hawk sighting

While the guys were on the golf course I heard a noise on the roof. I managed to grab the camera in the nick of time.

Will Del take the hint?

Bringing in Del's new shed was thirsty work for Olivier and Peter. Del finally took the hint and brought out some beer!

X marks the spot

After 2 people who prefer to remain nameless (but you know who you are Olivier and Monique) walked into the screen door and knocked it off I bought some ribbon and sewed a big x on it. Hopefully that will do the trick.

Screwed!

We had a great supper last night - fillet mignon, shrimp and wine. But alas, not a corkscrew in sight. Pete had to get creative with a screwdriver, a screw and some pliers. He said he never met a bottle of wine he couldn't open. I guess it's true!

Guess who's coming to dinner

Pete and Monique are in town for a few days after a 2 week vacation in Clearwater. It's starting to feel a bit like Orleans around here.

The view from my kitchen window

You'd think we'd be used to it by now - but it still surprises me to see a deer out my kitchen window. I guess he was hoping for some leftovers!

Strawberry season

Our loyal Blog readers will remember that it is strawberry season down here, so strawberry shortcake was on the menu for last night's supper - not too late to come down for leftovers Tripper!

Houston- we have lift-off

NASA was thoughtful enough to postpone the launch of Atlantis, originally scheduled for Dec 2007 to today so we could be here. What an awesome sight.
There is another shuttle launch planned for March 11-we are looking forward to that one as well.
Safe journey Atlantis!

So, while the guys are watching the SuperBowl let me show you our home for the next 2 months.

Outside it's hot....Inside it's Chilli!

It's SuperBowl Sunday and the "boys" ordered chilli.
Lucky for me - there are 2 TV's in this house!
