Dogs and Donuts

Last night we went off to Daytona Beach to the new home of the greyhound dog races, now called the Daytona Beach Kennel Club and Poker Room. We were hoping Tina and Andre would have beginner's luck but they disappointed us. If not for one of Olivier's long-shot bets paying out big time we might have lost our shirts!
Then, as tradition dictates, Del treated us to a baker's dozen of Krispie Kremes. Were the donuts good?- just ask Tina!

Cosmos and pasta

Tina came ready to party by bringing all the fixings to make her famous Cosmopolitans. Then we ended the evening with a wonderful spagetti feast that Olivier prepared. It was great to be able to eat outdoors even at 9 pm.
P.S. Joanne - make sure you get the Cosmo recipe from your sister before you come down here!!

Visitors from the Great White North

Tina and Andre made their flight yesterday just before Westjet cancelled all their flights. This is Tina's first appearance on my Blog and she wanted me to mention that after hours of waiting at the airport and a 4 hour flight she may not be looking her best in this picture - yeah right!

Views of Tampa

Unless there is a shuttle launch, Titusville is really a nice sleepy little town. For some big city excitment Tampa is the place to be.

Losers all around

Del, Olivier and a few friends went to Tampa yesterday to watch the Habs take on Tampa Bay. Watching an NHL game in shorts was a first for them. They managed to score great tickets from a guy on the street ( I believe they call that a scalper in some countries). They were $150 lounge seats (Section 200 behind the Montreal net) which included all you can eat and all you can drink, all for $50 a pop. I guess the economy really is bad down here.
They had a great time even though Montreal lost. I know how Montreal felt - I went to the Bingo with the ladies and lost too.

One cube or three

After a phone consultation with his doctor (who shall remain nameless - right, Jim!) on an important medical problem, Olivier now knows the optimum number of ice cubes needed to keep your rum and coke at the ideal temperature in the Florida sun is 3.

Bird on a wire

Olivier sighted this beautiful hawk on Del's telephone cable.

The search is over

The quest for the best hamburger is over. It is by far a restaurant called Five Guys Burgers and Fries. After a morning of shopping we had the best lunch ever at this place. The burgers are huge and the fries put New York fries to shame.
Not good planning on our part though - we are going to a wild boar BBQ tonight!!!

Another great supper

Near freezing temperatures didn't stop us from driving down to Cocoa Beach for supper to celebrate the 57th wedding anniversary of our friends Jim and Carolyn from Lancaster, Penn. They have 6 children, 18 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild on the way!

The 19th hole

Roger and Emile are visiting here for a week.

There were a few harsh words over who actually won yesterday's golf game but a nice cold beer at our favorite Mexican restaurant calmed everyone down.

Grapefruit anyone!

Here are some neighbours we will try to get to know - look what they have growing on their front lawn.

The 25 cent tour

A few pictures of the place we will be calling home for the next 3 months

Back in the TGO

So, we are back in Florida for the third year!

We had a good trip down by car and train. Thanks to all of you for your e-mails and phone calls making sure we got here okay.

We are settling in to our new place (translation - Olivier has already washed the car!) We also now own a new vehicle which I am already enjoying as you can see.

The weather is warming up. It is still cool at night but the daytime is in in the 70's.
