A close call

Olivier and I spent a very enjoyable afternoon at SpaceCoast Stadium watching the Training Camp home opener of the Washington Nationals as they beat the Detroit Tigers.
Back at home things got heated up as a so-called 'control burn' got out of control and came right up to the edge of the Nature Trail.
Diane and Danny, Sylvain and Chantal - this picture was taken from the backyard of the house you stayed in last year. Thankfully the fire department got things back under control before any homes were involved.

One big happy family

You may recall me showing you the Sand Cranes a few days ago and telling you they mate for life. When we saw them again today it was obvious what they had been up to!!!

The Nature Trail

A drive along the Nature Trail here at The Great Outdoors is always fun.

Snow in Florida????

Is that snow in Florida???? Not a chance baby- that's beautiful white sand. I guess that's why they call the place Wintergarden and that's where we spent a great day with Zeph and Mary Jane.
Too bad they are leaving on Friday - we see them more often an hour away from us in Florida then back home where they live 5 minutes away- go figure!!

Sibling rivalry

Lorraine, Barry, Madeleine and Paul gave us a chance to return their hospitality by coming to visit us in the TGO.
Everyone got a 25 cent tour in the golf cart.
The main topic of conversation seemed to be centered around the joys of vacationing with a sibling but judging by the first picture it seems like a pretty good deal.

Good news Everyone!

Olivier and I may not be ready to go home just yet but for the last few days we have noticed the robins are having daily meetings on our front lawn. We believe they are discussing the possibility of flying home this week and that can only mean one thing - SPRING!!!

Everyone loves a redhead!!

Our favorite birds down hear are the Florida Sand Cranes. They are very people-friendly and they like to walk along side of us.
They mate for life and are very protective of each other. As this picture shows, one is hunting for food while the other is watching out for danger.

Hat's off at TGO

Some of you may be wondering what I do sometimes while Olivier is washing all those cars.
Well, I have joined a group of ladies here who started knitting caps for cancers patients at the local cancer hospital. I am proud to say that in 3 weeks we have donated more than 160 caps and we are still at it.

Visiting friends

A 30 minute drive down the coast brought us to the February home of our friends, Barry, Lorraine, Madeleine and Paul in Indian River Beach and what a great view of the beach they have!
We had a great day with them and hope to see them again before they leave.

Name that cart

No more 'accidently' getting into the wrong cart!

Pie eating contest

To celebtate Valetine's Day yesterday Del bought us this award winning coconut cream pie from the Village Inn- excellent!
P.S. Happy Birthday Bud!!

Visitors

We were happy to have Olivier's curling buddy and his family drop by for a short visit yesterday afternoon. Zeph, Mary Jane and Philippe are staying in Kissimmee.
Philippe was glad to learn that 'drinking and driving' rules are a litle different when your mode of transportation is a golf cart.

Our deer friends are back

Now that the hot weather is back, our deer friends seem to be out and about more - they love having their picture taken.

What a deal!

You see - this is why Ford does not need government handouts!

Nanuk of the North

Ok, so it has been a bit cooler than usual and in all fairness he does have a cold, but really Del - is this any way to dress in Florida!!

Promises kept

Olivier promised many friends that once he got to the Florida sunshine he would have a rum and coke and think of them - mission accomplished!
I, on the other hand promised only one thing to one person and that was to make a strawberry shorkcake and think of her. So Sharon, this one's for you!

Moving on up

Now that every car within a 2 block radius of our house has been washed and waxed, Olivier has moved on to bigger and better things. Kathy's RV has never been shinier. I am a little worried though. He is taking Tina and Andre to the airport this afternoon and you know how dirty those 747's can get - he may be home late!

Our annual Cornish hen feast

While the four of us were inside feasting on shrimp cocktails and cosmos, Olivier was outside BBQ'ing these little guys- well worth the wait.
