A 3-F weekend

It was definitely a 3-F weekend for us - Fun in the sun, Friends and Food.
Saturday night it was the Florida Seafood Bar and Grill with Carolyn and Jim and then Sunday night we had the best ribs in town at Durango's with Bob and Karen.
Tonight we will be trying something completely different - we will be eating at home!!

Hats for Hope

One of the many activities I enjoy getting involved in down here is the Hats for Hope group. We knit and crochet chemo caps for the local Cancer Centre. We have already sent over hundreds of caps.
If anyone else is interested in doing this for their own community there are great ( and easy) patterns available at the Bernat website. You may need to become a member but it's free and you'll have access to lots of great patterns.

Southern hospitality y'all

Last night our friend Linda was going to treat us to some of her Sothern hospitality, a big pot of jambalaya and her secret recipe of corn bread. Well, as you can see there was an 'incident' with the cornbread. But still, 2 outta 3 ain't bad!
Thanks Linda- hope your sandal recovers!

Great friends, Great BBQ

Kay and Chris had us and Kathy over last night for a BBQ. These gals are 3 of the 5 members of Team USA and we were hoping to pick up some pointers for our 3rd annual bowling tournament coming up in March. No such luck but we sure had a good time and a great meal.
Sorry 'bout your Chicago Bears Kay!

An Otter kind of animal

If you look back over the previous 4 years of Blog entries you will see deer, aligators, snakes, armadillos, turtles, and probably a few other critters but just when we thought we had seen it all we stepped outside this afternoon and there was on otter on our front lawn. I'm not sure I have ever seen one before - does anyone know if they bite?

Great moviee

We had a day of crappy weather- actually we were under a tornado watch for most of the day on Monday so we decided to go to the movies. We saw The Fighter - I wasn't expecting much from a movie about boxing but it was a great movie.
Being under a tornado watch is pretty scary since there is really no place to hide without any basements around herebut the good news is that when it is over there is nothing to shovel!!!!

Cart vs. Smart

Our friends Bob and Karen stopped by with their golf cart just when 2 people in a yellow Smart car drove past - so now we are able to answer that age old question - Which is bigger - cart or Smart!

'Home again'

Ok, so it's not really home but it's our 5th year (have I really been retired that long!!!) and it truly is starting to feel like home, especially when we have been so warmly welcomed back by our many friends throughout the park.
We have been spending most of this past week spending- groceries, etc. so not too many exciting pictures yet but this is the street where we will be living for the next 3 months along with some indoor pictures.
As you can see, we are now a 2-cart family. It would make for some fun street racing but with a 15 mile an hour speed limit it wouldn't exactly be a NASCAR event.
