Dinner with the Soucy's

Dinner at Steve and Sylvie's was a lot of fun!
Kathy was surrounded by us crazy Cannucks but seemed to take it in stride.
And while she and the whole country wait to go over the fiscal cliff Steve definitely went over the rum cliff (not sure about Guy)!

Visit from Sue

Yesterday we were so happy to have Sue come to visit from Pennsylvania. It was a great chance to reminisce and remember happy days that included Bob and Del who we decided must be enjoying golfing together somewhere up there.

Laissez les bons temps roulez, Bobo!
We miss you both.

Christmas

So, yesterday we confirmed what we have suspected for many years. The best thing to make for Christmas dinner is reservations!
We joined Therese, Paul, Peter and Mary for a great buffet dinner at The Holiday Inn down the street.

No apples, just citrus!

This Blog entry is for Emilie, Melodie, Jolianne, Jacob, Patrick and Audrey who come with us every year to pick apples.
Well, here in Florida there are no apple trees but there are lots of orange and grapefruit trees and they are delicious!

Steve is back in town

So, our quiet lifestyle in this sleepy little town has come to a temporary halt. That's right, Steve is back in town!
It was nice having Steve, Sylvie and Nikko spend their first evening of their vacation with us.
And now we're off to buy more rum!

In the Holiday spirit

Our evening stroll proved once again that snow and freezing cold weather is not necessary to get into the Holiday Spirit.

Merry Christmas and Happy Hannukah to all!

Getting ready for Christmas

Thanks to Barry and Lorraine our golf cart is ready for Christmas.
The drink in Olivier's hand is the beginning of his commitment to have a drink for everybody back home which he promised to about 75 people, so it might take another day or two!

Back again and settled in

Believe it or not we are back in the TGO for the seventh year and it really feels like coming home again.
In the first hour we were welcomed by Kathy, Carole, Joe, Sibyl, Don and Erin and that's just because not everybody is here yet.
So after almost a week here we feel settled in and yes, the car and golf cart have been washed (that was done on Day 2).
Off to BINGO now - wish me luck!

The bridge to nowhere

When Joel was here he called this the bridge to nowhere because that's what it looked like when you drove over it. Well, the other day Olivier thought it would be a great idea to walk the bridge.

I was starting to regret this decision since the bridge seemed to be uphill for an extremely long time and it was very hot. But then all of a sudden the walk was an easy downhill and we discovered a great seafood restaurant called Crackerjacks under the bridge.

Great idea Olivier!

Guess you were wrong Joel!

Come along for the ride

Most afternoons down here we take a ride down the Nature Trail - thought you might like to come along for the ride.

Pot Luck

If it seems like we are always eating around here that's because, well, we are always eating around here!
Last night was the neighbourhood pot luck get-together and a chance for us to take some photos with some special people before we head home.

Awards night

Team Canada and Team USA got together last night at La Bamba for margaritas, great Mexican food and fun ( mostly margaritas!).

Team USA was very generous with their accolades of Team Canada and presented our team with a newly created 2nd place trophy. I was proud to accept the award for most improved player and was offered a position on Team USA next year! If I accept they said they will change the name to Team U.S.EH. to make me feel more at home! What great sports they are!!

The tradition continues

The much anticipated and ever popular Team Canada vs. Team USA bowling tournament was held yesterday.

We played in memory of Del ( who started the whole thing 4 years ago) and so we were happy to have Joanne and Guy join our team this year.

Unfortunately, even with Joanne and Guy's bowling talent ( Steve told us we couldn't miss with them!) we still came in second but not by much.

The fun will continue tonight when we all meet at La Bamba, our favorite Mexican restaurant. We will be drowning our sorrows with 2 for 1 margaritas and Coronas while we plan next year' s strategy!

Music, fun and sun

One of Olivier's favorite events down here was this weekend -The Bluegrass Festival in Christmas.

We ate pulled pork, homemade ice cream, fresh kettle corn. I shopped at all the artisan booths and Olivier got to listen to more bluegass music than I let him listen to on SIRIUS!

And this year I actually learned why this beautiful little town down the road from us is called Christmas.

Thanks for coming with us Shirley and Don. Hope you had fun too.

You never know!

Around here you just never know who or what you might run into so we always try to remember to throw the camera in the golfcart. Today we went up the street to pick up the mail and saw 2 turtles, 2 gators, 3 sand cranes and a stealth bomber. The stealth had us a bit worried for a second until we remembered the TICO Warbird AirShow was in town.
