Another warm welcome

After being welcomed back by our dear friends and neighbours it was nice to get a visit this morning from our deer friends!

This guy was reading Olivier's iPad over his shoulder

Year 10 has begun

Hard to believe that it is our 10th year in the TGO. it was a difficult train ride and we were about 6 hours late getting in.
It was also hard to get settled in because it was so late and we were so tired on Wednesday and the stores were close on Thursday for U.S. Thanksgiving. So we only had time to shop for the most important items on our list. Apparently that meant a trip to the liquor store for Olivier's favorite rum!
We are actually going to be able to watch the Grey Cup game on ESPN this afternoon - that might mean another trip to the liquor store real soon.
Go Red Blacks Go!!!!

Winding down

As our time down here is rapidly winding down I made sure to get everyone together for some photos.
First our Monday bowling team, The CanAm's, and then my Tuesday lunch and Bunko gals.

Sally, Mary and us had lots of fun and some level of success finishing in 4th place

'Coach'  Pat came out to support us every week

The Bunko gals - can you tell it's St. Patrick's Day!

Jeanne insisted on taking this picture with me in it.

The 6th Annual Bowling Tournament -so, so close!

I know I've been saying this for the last few years but honestly we were soooo close to beating Team USA this year. We had them nervous enough that they brought in a ringer- Bill has a league average of 200 and bowled a 278 last week. He's such a nice guy so we didn't have a problem with him joining Team USA this year- might have been our mistake!!!!
Already looking forward to next year.

Even though it was near 90F today I baked cupcakes in anticipation of sweet victory.
We ate them anyway!

Our team table

Team USA brought dessert as well!

Donalda and K - cavorting with the 'enemy'!!

Jack and Bev - our loyal cheering section

Dan, Pat and Jan - Team USA supporters!

Richard, the manager of the bowling lanes always tries to stay neutral ( especially if it means he gets 2 cupcakes!)

After sampling one of our cupcakes, Pat was ready to cross over to our side!

Even though Magee is K and Chris's dog, his outfit made him a perfect mascot for Team Canada

A treat for the undecided.

As always we are all smiles after the competition is over

Food and drink are always included in the festivities

A million miles to go

Spending the winter at the Space Coast in Central Florida gives us the opportunity to step out of our front door and catch spectacular views of any rockets that are launched from Cape Canaveral.
Tonight was the launch of a SpaceX Falcon rocket on a test run.
Looks good so far!

So THIS is Christmas

Last night was one of the warmest Christmas Eve's in recent history so what a perfect time for 8 of us to  get in our cars and seek out those very elaborately decorated houses that everyone has been talking about.
The house we found on the Sherwood Forest Golf Club was head and shoulders above any house we had every seen before, complete with falling snow.
Check it out:

Olivier talked to the owner of the house who told him he does this every year. He starts at the beginning of October and does it all himself. Hundreds of people walk around his property every night in December right up to his front door and he loves it.

Problem solved!

Olivier has taken to having a glass of wine every afternoon (medicinal purposes he tells me). Problem was the wine glass would tip over in the cup holder in the golf cart.
But then I found a travel mug with a built-in wine glass. The best part is I found it at the dollar store. And now you know why we love this country!

A perfect fit!

What a great idea!
